Deezer has released new numbers that show how quickly artificial intelligence is reshaping music. Nearly a third of all tracks uploaded to the platform today (28%) are fully AI-generated.
The increase has been fast. In January, AI tracks made up around 10% of new uploads. By April, that share had climbed to 18%. Now, just a few months later, it’s at 28%. In practice, that means more than 30,000 AI-made tracks are being delivered to Deezer every day.
Listeners, however, are not tuning in at the same speed. Deezer says fully AI-generated tracks account for only about 0.5% of total streams. Even more interesting, about 70% of those plays are believed to be fraudulent, often linked to attempts at manipulating payouts.

Deezer’s Policy
Back in June, Deezer introduced what it called the world’s first AI-tagging system for music streaming, designed to label AI-made tracks across the platform. That move has now expanded into stricter measures.
Every fully AI-generated track on Deezer carries a clear label so listeners know what they’re hearing. These songs are also excluded from algorithmic recommendations and editorial playlists, meaning they won’t appear alongside new releases or curated mixes from human artists.

The company says the aim is fairness – ensuring that the “royalty pool” continues to support musicians who depend on streaming for their livelihood.
Deezer’s approach may be one of the first clear attempts to create boundaries, but the more important debate about ownership, creativity, and the role of machines in culture is already here, and it’s only becoming more urgent.
