One of Split’s most respected producers and DJs, co-founder of Cruise Split events, and the driving force behind Travel Light Records, Madezh, has recently announced his newest release. After a four-year break, he introduced ‘This is a New Life EP‘, announcing the new chapter in his electronic music production career.
As he described on his social media, this edition, as he puts it, holds something for everyone – deep, minimal, groove, vocals, house, techno, and more – the same way he approaches his DJ sets, he manages to translate this into his own music. In anticipation of the release date, we had a conversation with him regarding his new direction in production and inspirations for This Is A New Life EP.
After four years gap, we asked him how his views on music had changed, and what it brought to his music production process. “These past four years have been all about finding a balance between real life and music. I was extremely busy with my everyday work, which is also in the music industry as a music manager and booker for several spots here in Split, plus I moved and was building a brand new house with a studio inside” Madezh told us, adding that the production definitely suffered the most because of these life events, as it was really hard to find proper, uninterrupted studio time. “However, I never lost my focus on music. I was constantly playing gigs, listening to tracks, digging in record shops to find old and also to buy new music. That actually inspired me the most throughout this whole period. I just needed that time to sit in the studio without any pressure, and the result is this new release.”

After settling in his new studio that he carefully created for himself, he finally found the time to create and share his new music. After the whole process, we were wondering what inspired him the most for this EP and what does This Is A New Life represent for him. “The title of the EP basically says it all. This is a fresh chapter, both for me personally and for the label itself, as I changed distribution and plan to have regular releases now. Essentially, the sound is a mix of house, techno, and minimal elements, just like my sets and my record collection at home, so it felt natural for me to create an EP like that”, he explained, pointing out that he still has a lot of projects to realize in the future. “The original idea for the label was to release whatever I like, regardless of the music style and what is popular now. It gives me complete freedom of expression, and I want to keep it that way in the future”.
As per the date, the upcoming release is vinyl-only and limited to 200 copies, so there won’t be any digital release at all. Madezh explained that materials have been officially sent to distribution, and the record has just entered production. “We will know the exact release and pre-order date as soon as the first test pressings arrive at my address, but you can expect the vinyl pre-order in the coming months“, he added.
This release was very expected by local and international producers, confirming the mastery of Madezh’s sound and approach to music. “I am deeply grateful for all the beautiful words and incredible support I’ve received from everyone who contacted me about this new release. Thank you all!” For more information and the final release date, keep an eye on Madezh and Travel Light Records‘ Instagram profiles.
