Chicago Riders, a producer and live act duo based in Split, have just recently released a new edition called Ketamine EP. Their latest edition is signed for the AfterEgo Chronicles label owned by Croatian DJ and producer Roberto Brignani, who shared the story behind the 4-track edition and how he teamed up with the producers.
“My collaboration with the Los Barbaros collective began quite spontaneously after Liksonix invited me to record a podcast for their platform. Shortly thereafter, I was invited to perform at their traditional Los Barbaros Masquerade event. It was there that I heard Chicago Riders live for the first time and was completely blown away; their live act delivered exactly the kind of raw, uncompromising sound I value most. The boundary between our sets was so fluid that, at one point, I wasn’t sure if my track was ending or if their performance had already begun”, told us Roberto Brignani, following the club chemistry, which was confirmed that same summer at the Lazareti club in Dubrovnik.

According to him, the Chicago Riders once again demonstrated exceptional technical skill and maturity on the scene, after which he invited them to create an original EP for the AfterEgo Chronicles label.
Following the sound he described and actively promotes with his DJ sets, we asked him about his motivation and the guidelines that he follows when signing the artists for his label. “My primary motivation—both for this EP and for every release I have put out so far or plan to release in the future—is the desire to introduce the local audience more deeply to the darker side of electronic music, a sound that is still seeking to fully establish itself in our region“, describing it as a flawless fusion of raw acid and emotional, atmospheric electro, spanning everything from breakbeat to the hypnotic elements of trance and techno.
