The Croatian music scene is getting a new, unexpected sound thanks to Zvonimir Dusper Dus. Known for his innovative approach to production, Dus is launching a project called Dussanova, which will transform 30 of the biggest domestic hits into a sophisticated bossa nova style. Hits such as Rundek’s ‘Moja prva Ljubav’, ‘Ne Daj’ by Natali Dizdar and ‘S vremena na vrijeme’ by Prljavo kazalište will get a new look.
This project is a combination of recognizable melodies and relaxed rhythms of Brazil, and thus explores the boundaries of well-known pop hits, giving them new freshness and life, and a completely new perspective for the audience. Dussanova will cover everything – from evergreens, party classics that marked the nineties, to contemporary hits that dominate the radio airwaves.
The concert promotion will take place on March 21st at Peti Kupe. Dus and Homage Collective will perform a selection of songs from the album with numerous famous guests.
But the evening doesn’t end there. It continues with Kontrapunkt, a once cult party organized by Dus and Eddy Ramich with special guests from the Jazzanova collective. Last year we hosted them for a great live performance, and this March they arrive with a DJ set, just like they used to perform at Kontrapunkt.
From the first moment they came together as a DJ collective in 1995, there was no template for what Jazzanova would be, and at every stage they had to invent rules along the way. Never sticking to one specific scene or sound, never following one specific technique or format, they invent rules and that’s exactly what makes their music so wonderful.
They will be joined at the counter of Peti Kupe by Eddy Ramich and German DJ Daniel Best, a long-time collaborator of Jazzanova.
