Kyoto Jazz Massive, the renowned Japanese pioneers of jazz and club music fusion, are set to make a long-awaited return to Zagreb on November 27th. This influential duo will bring their signature blend of jazz and electronic sounds to the stage at Peti Kupe. Tickets for this event have already sold out which means that the excitement for their live performance is highly anticipated.
Discovered by the famous Gilles Peterson in the early 90s, brothers Shuya and Yoshi Okino were DJs before forming the Kyoto Jazz Massive duo with Peterson’s encouragement, becoming pioneers of Japan’s jazz and club music crossover. They then formed a band and began live performances, which continue to this day.
The Japanese pioneers released their first compilation CD titled Kyoto Jazz Massive in 1994, followed by their first single Eclipse in 2000 under the renowned Compost label. Their first album, Spirit of the Sun, released in 2002, received worldwide recognition.
Since 2004, Kyoto Jazz Massive Live Set has been performing across Europe and Asia. Alongside their own compositions, they consistently release new remixes, earning them a reputation as highly sought-after producers. As DJs, they regularly play not only in Japan but worldwide, especially in the UK, Germany, Italy, France, and the US. Their performances in the 2000s as part of the iconic Kontrapunkt program are still remembered.
After a long brake, they’re returning to Zagreb to deliver their top-notch fusion of jazz and electronic music live. For more information follow Peti Kupe on their social media.
