One day left until the deadline for KONTEJNER association’s call for new artistic productions and exhibitions at the eighth edition of the Device_art festival in 2026.
The open call is intended for all interested individuals and collectives from Croatia or residing in Croatia.
All artists, scientists, technology enthusiasts, innovators, and passionate robotics creators are invited to submit their ideas and ongoing or completed artistic projects for consideration to participate in the new edition of the Device_art festival, which will take place from September 29 to October 27, 2026, at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Zagreb. Selected applicants will have the opportunity to realize their artistic works with financial, curatorial, and production support from the KONTEJNER association.
Device_art is an international festival that explores technological devices, machines, and robotics in contemporary art. The festival re-examines established concepts of the interplay between art, science, and technology, critically interpreting and contextualizing the conditions of production, reception, and communication of device art. The artistic works featured at the festival exist at the intersection of device hacking and gadget culture, art and product design, encompassing a broad spectrum of themes and formats, from conceptual provocations and innovative interfaces to utilitarian products, toys, and prototypes.
The eighth edition of the festival is organized in collaboration with the South Korean curatorial collective Vestige (Yunchul Kim, Jungyeon Park, Menger Chu). In addition to current Croatian device_art trends, the festival will present South Korean new media artists and explore devices and machines not only as functional tools but also as mediators in creating new perceptual and symbolic fields, reflecting on everything we can imagine and achieve through them.
The application deadline is January 20, 2026, at 23:59 CET, and submissions must be made via the online application form. The application form is in Croatian.
