The Dva osam club in Zagreb’s Jabukovac neighborhood has decided on yet another name change; this time, with a combination of its old and new names, Jabuka 2.8.
“We consider Club Jabuka—whose management we have taken over—a cultural asset of the City of Zagreb (and beyond); at the same time, the majority of our new audience, as well as longtime devotees of the club, wish for the old name to return. As the club’s management, we cannot ignore this situation; thus, this ‘repurposing’ embodies a combination of the legendary name and the new energy we are bringing to it,” said Jabuka 2.8’s team on their official website.
The program confirms what anyone who has stepped into the venue already knows: the eighties have taken up permanent residence there. The season kicks off on Saturday, August 29, with the New Gold Dream night hosted by Kristian Nardić Kiki. Next up is the Pure Electro Party 17th-anniversary edition on September 5, followed by Tanz Noir (a The Cure party) on September 12, and finally, the Pet Shop Boys and Friends eighties party on September 19.
Alongside the long-running New Gold Dream and Pure Electro Party, the organizers highlight the newer club night Tanz Noir and the additional eighties-themed Pet Shop Boys party. Simple Minds, The Cure, and Pet Shop Boys remain staples of the playlist.
