Culture Hub Croatia (CHC) is a non-profit organization based in Split dedicated to using education, culture, and creativity to develop and empower local communities since 2017. Through its physical creative hub – Prostor [eng. Space] – CHC provides an inclusive space for creatives to connect, collaborate, and develop socially impactful projects. Prostor found its place in the old Split neighborhood of Spinut, specifically in the iconic residential building known as the “Chinese Wall,” located on Planciceva Street.

Prostor hosts a variety of events, including workshops for children and adults, lectures, exhibitions, and meetups. Through the “Adopt Prostor” program, CHC invites associations, collectives, artists, and citizens to organize free activities in the space, supporting community engagement and participation.
CHC invites artists to apply for a three-week residency in April 2025 as a part of the annual program – Identitet(i). The program explores identity in various forms – personal, collective, or tied to specific places – and its negations, such as the concept of “non-places.” It also examines identity’s fluidity, intersectionality, feminist perspectives, cultural identities, and the position of artists shaping their own identities.

The residency is open to to visual, interdisciplinary, and transdisciplinary artists based in Croatia. Selected artist will receive transportation and accommodation support, plus 600 EUR. Projects can be in any stage of research or production and the project does not need to be completed during the residency. Additionally, artists can use the residency for the preparation of projects to be presented elsewhere. During the residency, there will be a public open-studio presentation and discussion.
The application deadline for projects is February 5th, and all applicants will be notified of the selection no later than February 14th. More information about the residency in the culture hub Prostor and the concept itself can be found on their official website.
