The “Rocument at VIB” film series continues its season with a screening of the documentary Sound of Berlin by director Christian Lima, taking viewers to the heart of one of Europe’s most renowned electronic music scenes.
For decades, Berlin has been a pivotal hub for the development of electronic music and club culture. Today, the city boasts over 300 clubs, while the number of DJs, producers, and other key figures in the scene is difficult to pinpoint precisely. Sound of Berlin explores this vast and dynamic scene.
The film offers a glimpse of Berlin after dark—its clubs, dance floors, and spaces where electronic music transcends mere entertainment to become an integral part of daily life and the city’s identity.
Through interviews and scenes from everyday club life, Sound of Berlin introduces the people who create and shape the Berlin electronic scene—from DJs and producers to the audience that forms its backbone, and from underground venues to massive clubs—while illustrating how the scene has evolved and continues to shape Berlin’s cultural landscape.
