September in Zagreb kicks off with the twelfth edition of the region’s largest design festival, Zagreb Design Week, which begins on September 9 at 6 PM at Jadran Film. The festival will run for two weeks and conclude with a day party at Peti Kupe.
This year, the festival introduces a slightly different concept. For the first time, it will last two weeks. The main events will take place at Jadran Film during the first week, while the second week will be hosted at selected partner locations across the center of Zagreb. The theme of the twelfth edition focuses on exploring different realities, emphasizing the complexity of global challenges and the essential role of designers in examining and questioning these Shared Realities.
The opening ceremony will be held at 6 PM on September 9 at Jadran Film, where the ZGDW Award – the only international design prize in Croatia will be presented. The exhibition of the award finalists will be open until Sunday, September 14, along with design showcases from Catalonia, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Mexico, and Slovenia.
Jadran Film will also host fashion shows, lectures, panels, workshops, documentary screenings, and a wide variety of other content. The second week of the festival will take place across galleries, studios, and pop-up spaces throughout central Zagreb.
ZGDW also brings a new program, Studio Space, featuring presentations from renowned Croatian design studios. This year’s lineup includes Dig Studio, SH&T, and Bekar Haus.
The festival will close on Sunday, September 21, with a daytime party at Peti Kupe. A daily ticket for the Jadran Film program costs €2. For all updates and details, visit the official ZGDW website.
