A recognizable, relentless groove from the heart of techno, imbued with warmth and soul, arrives this weekend at Zagreb’s Peti Kupe. It is brought by Octave One, an extremely influential American techno duo from Detroit, consisting of brothers Lenny and Lawrence Burden. They are considered key figures of the second wave of Detroit techno, and are globally recognized primarily for their energetic live performances and strong, soulful sound. This is exactly the kind of edition they are performing on Saturday, December 6, organized by Piknik.

Their sound is defined by the raw power of Detroit techno, but with the addition of melody and soul. Octave One often combines energetic, rhythmically complex sections with warm synth melodies, which sets them apart from minimalist European trends. The duo has gained iconic status for its approach to live performance. Instead of DJ sets, they perform improvised techno using only hardware (synthesizers, rhythm machines), which creates a uniquely intense club experience.
Their most successful hit is Black Water (2000), featuring vocalist Ann Saunderson. That song became a global techno anthem, perfectly embodying their combination of energetic rhythm and emotional vocal line. Octave One continues to fill stages around the world today, bringing an authentic, unwavering Detroit sound.

The resident of this club, Antonio Zuza, with Vazdaisti and Vid from Kongres Kolektiv will help them fill the podium of Peti Kupe. A limited number of tickets are available via the link: https://www.entrio.hr/event/piknik-with-octave-one-live-28209
