In the latest effort to scan AI-generated content across music streaming platforms, Betport has officially announced that they ban fully generated songs completely.
In their statement, the Beatport CEO Matt Gralen said that Beatport exists to serve DJs and empower artists & labels while partnering with our community and providing confidence in what our platform offers. “While new production techniques have driven electronic music forward since the beginning, there is a difference between a tool that assists human creation and a system that replaces it entirely. Beatport is built on the former”, stated the CEO.

The platform teamed up with Beatdapp, initially focused on streaming fraud. The two companies will now address fraudulent activity and unauthorized AI-generated content together, with Beatdapp’s detection technology able to distinguish between fully generated and AI-assisted tracks.
Beatdapp co-founder and co-CEO Andrew Batey stated the partnership will bring greater transparency to generative AI while protecting human creativity. Moreover, Jay Ahern, chief strategy officer at the Association for Electronic Music, added that Beatport’s policy aligns with AFEM’s AI Principles by recognizing that not every use of AI should be treated in the same way.
Beatport’s latest decision was largely supported by its recent user survey, which found that 60% of users said they would not play AI-generated tracks in their sets. With the fast-growing percentage on other streaming platforms, it remains to be seen whether other industry titans will follow Beatport’s example.
