Peti Kupe’s opening party on Friday, September 4th, promises to perfectly set the tone for the upcoming season. For this opening chapter, the club is bringing in Ron Trent and Radio Slave, names that embody both a rich history and a vision for the future.
Growing up in Chicago in the 1980s, when disco was transitioning into house, Ron Trent absorbed music from a very early age. An avid record collector, he became a respected DJ in his early teens. At just 14 years old—back in 1990—he created and released the hypnotic track “Altered States,” which became an instant classic and launched his career on the international stage. In the early 90s, he co-founded Prescription Records with Chez Damier—one of the most influential deep house labels in history—introducing the world to talents such as Moodymann and Glenn Underground. After moving to New York, he became a regular performer at legendary venues both locally and around the globe. This path led to collaborations and production work with stars such as Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, and Tony Allen.
The dancefloor tension will be sustained by the ultimate club hypnotist, Radio Slave. This London and Berlin icon—the driving force behind the influential Rekids label—is far more than just a DJ; he is known for massive releases that keep the crowd in a trance for hours. Radio Slave possesses a rare gift for blending raw rave, analog techno, and top-tier house, turning his sets at venues like Berghain into the stuff of legend.
Holding down the local front for the night is a proven lineup: Ilija Rudman, Pepi Jogarde, and Antonio Zuza. The party kicks off at 7 PM with a gathering on the terrace, continuing inside the club until the early hours of the morning.
This party serves as a brilliant prelude to the autumn season, cementing Peti Kupe’s status as a key regional hotspot. From September through December, the club presents a program that bridges the living history of electronic music with the most relevant names in today’s underground scene. The lineup features acts such as Dimitri from Paris, Egyptian Lover, Âme, Kittin, Helena Hauff, Mathew Jonson, Mousse T., Michael Gray, and Traumer, alongside live concert attractions like Donny Benet, Azymuth, and Kyoto Jazz Massive. From Chicago house pioneers and analog virtuosos to uncompromising vinyl techno and live jazz-funk fusions, months of intense club rhythms lie ahead.
