PLACE Market, a project founded in 2023 that aimed to revitalize Zagreb’s food markets and unite Croatian restaurants and bistros, kicks off a new season in the capital this Friday. Even though they initially started on Dolac, a market situated on Zagreb’s main square, they relocated to Kvatrić square a year ago due to reconstruction. The project soon got the sympathy of the locals, which pushed the organizers to expand on Split’s market – Pazar.
As many of the Zagreb’s residents returned from their vacations, summer in the city is officially reaching its finals from this weekend, as PLACE returns to Kvatrić market and brings a variety of restaurants and bistros.
Moreover, from last spring one more market also got a food festival of its own. Trešnjevka market turns to Špica plac, that opens fall season with locally well-known DJ Stanko Bondža and new gastro specialties – the “Chef i Gladan” project, spearheaded by chef Dominik Škalec and food content creator Igor Jadan bringing its star attraction is sfoglia—a traditional Italian pasta made from flour and eggs available only on the market. Moreover, Ice House, one of the viral hits of last year’s Advent season, offers its “Ice Puffs”—colorful, smoky corn-based snacks—and “Ice Smoke Cocktails”.
Both markets will take place every Friday from now on, starting from 6 P.M., if the weather allows. Additional information about the programs are available on PLACE market and Špica plac social media accounts.
