The owners of the renowned Papaya group are set to enhance Zagreb’s nightlife with the opening of a new club named Lift. The club will be located at Savska cesta 28 and is expected to open in October 2024. This development aims to enrich the city’s clubbing scene and provide a platform for the growth of local DJs, collectives, and promoters.
Background of Papaya Group
Papaya group is a prominent name in the clubbing industry, with over twenty years of experience. They have established Croatia as a significant spot on the global electronic music and festival tourism map. The group manages three clubs on Zrce Beach: Aquarius, Nomad, and Papaya. Papaya has consistently ranked among the top 10 clubs globally according to DJ Mag’s prestigious Top 100 list and has hosted numerous renowned festivals such as Hideout and Sonus.
In addition to their successful ventures on Zrce Beach, the Papaya group has significantly contributed to the development of Zagreb’s club scene through various establishments, including the iconic Gjuro II and Piranha, which preceded the Mansion club. The owners have identified a gap in the market for venues that genuinely promote and nurture electronic music in Zagreb.
Club Concept and Program
Lift’s concept revolves primarily around electronic music, catering to a broad spectrum of electronic subgenres. The club’s program is structured to offer diverse musical experiences:
Saturday Nights: Reserved for the club’s resident program, “Levels,” which will feature more commercial house music, appealing to a wider audience.
Friday Nights: Dedicated to various DJs and collectives promoting different subgenres of electronic music. This initiative supports a broad range of musical styles within the electronic genre
The program manager, Tin Trucek, mentioned that they are in the process of finalizing the lineup for the upcoming clubbing season and have already secured agreements with several organizers. Lift is open to collaborations with local DJs, collectives, and other event organizers.
