Art Zagreb 2024 opened today at the Meštrović Pavilion in Zagreb, and is running until December 15th. Now in its seventh year, the fair is an important event for contemporary art in Croatia, bringing together galleries, artists, and art enthusiasts from the region and more.
This year’s edition features 17 galleries from Croatia, Slovenia, France, and Serbia, showcasing a diverse range of contemporary artworks. Visitors have the opportunity to buy artworks directly on-site – Pay and Take, with a selection of pieces from students at Zagreb’s Academy of Fine Arts and emerging artists available at affordable prices. Each artwork is curated by the Academy, ensuring quality and authenticity.
The exhibition “(Re)Forma binarnoga,” created in partnership with the Croatian Society of Art Historians, emphasizes the first two of Wölfflin’s pairs: linearity and pictoriality, as well as plane and depth, challenging viewers to rethink conventional approaches to visual perception – which is a defining feature of Art Zagreb.
Beyond the exhibition space, Art Zagreb organizes various events such as panel discussions, lectures, workshops, and documentary film screenings, all aimed at promoting the art market. This year’s program features a discursive lineup of panels and lectures, addressing pressing topics in the art market and offering fresh perspectives on its challenges and opportunities.
