In the evolving entertainment scene, Europe has become the stage for an innovative trend: DJ sets hosted in local bakeries. One of the successful examples is Bakery Sessions by Aazar organized in cities like Amsterdam and Paris which have so far received only positive feedback. These parties take place in famous, usually smaller bakeries that are quiet spots with fresh pastries but are transformed into DJ setups turning into day parties. The so-called “bakery raves” have made a popular movement of a unique mix of excitement and closeness that only a familiar space can offer.
Now Zagreb was the next European city that hosted its first party in the bakery Bread Club – BREADCLUBing.
Zagreb’s established bakery chain, Bread Club, has recently opened a new location in Ilica 203. This one is special as it is their first bakery designed for customers to relax and enjoy a warm drink on-site.
In the afternoon on Saturday, November 9th, the new modern spot turned into a bakery DJ session powered by One Drop Music. In charge of the music were Einfakinn and Bsside who made this afternoon interesting and different for the crowd at Bread Club with house hits. Piena made sure to bring their sparkling to create the full party atmosphere.
Mislav Grdinic, from One Drop Music, shared with us: “The concept is not new, but it is new to us in Zagreb. Events in Berlin, Amsterdam, and London have inspired us to organize this since we want to recreate the vibe that such events bring. We noticed that there is a large interest in the event in a short time, but for now, we can only work on an invitation-based crowd since we have a limited space.”
One of the owners of the bakery, Anamaria Zajec Palic, is an electronic music lover and follows the scene so Grdinic added that it made sense for them to collaborate on this concept and bring “bakery rave” to Zagreb. The organizers have stated that, following this event, they will explore the possibility of holding similar events at regular intervals, although the final plan is yet to be decided.
BREADCLUBing began at 1 pm and wrapped up around 4 pm. To continue the day in the same tone the co-organisators Collage Events and Peti Kupe are bringing German DJ and producer Frank Wiedemann, also known under the alias Âme, for his first performance in Zagreb.
Thanks to initiatives like BREADCLUBing, Zagreb’s cultural scene continues to expand with creative people bringing fresh energy. This mix of electronic music and local community spaces not only introduces new experiences but also positions Zagreb alongside trendsetting cities.
