Last Saturday, October 12th, Zagreb got a new nightclub called Lift, located near the Cibona Tower at Savska cesta 28. Lift is designed as a perfect destination for electronic music lovers, featuring high-quality sound and modern design, and has already impressed its first visitors. The club’s official program will begin next weekend, with a full event calendar until the end of the year.
Club Lift is the latest project by Papaya Group, which has been developing clubbing in the country for years and placing Croatia on the global map of electronic music. With the increasing number of promoters, collectives, and DJs, the owners believe that Zagreb lacks adequate club spaces that can support the growth of the local scene. Beacuse of this reasons the Lift program represents a hybrid between the Saturday residency program called Levels and the “venue” concept on Fridays, when the space is taken over by local collectives and club event organizers.
“We are thrilled that the audience has responded positively to Lift and we look forward to the official start of our club season,” said Tin Trucek, the club’s program organizer, adding that they are open to collaborating with new, young, promising DJs and producers to help them develop within the residency program and establish themselves on the scene.
Diverse Program Until the End of the Year
Atlantida is the first collective that will perform at Lift this Friday, October 18. The producer trio Viktor, Einfakinn, and Turk will showcase their tribal and afro house sound, which is currently the fastest-growing genre in electronic music according to the annual report from the International Music Summit. Atlantida will host its program at Lift once a month.
The following week, October 25, Lift will be taken over by One Drop Music, a party brand dedicated to promoting the best performers of melodic house and techno. The event will feature renowned London artist, composer, producer, and regular at Ibiza’s top clubs, Made by Pete. Alongside him, local and regional talents Viktor and HeroY will also be playing music.
Beside the mentioned collectives, by the end of December, five more collectives and organizations that have made their mark on the local scene will organize events at the club: Myuz, Elektrotehnika, Panic Room, Violet, and Kongres Kolektiv.
In addition to every Saturday, the entire first weekend of November will be marked by Levels. Friday is reserved for the first residency guest performance, when under the special program Incomparable (“Nesuporediv”), the Zagreb audience will be introduced to the producer duo Grossomoddo, whose track “1001 nuits” reached the top five on Beatport’s Afro House chart.
“Levels will feature house and progressive music, with more vocals and a danceable rhythm. On Fridays, collectives will present more niche sounds, characteristic of each of them. In this way, we aim to support the local scene, offer the audience a diverse program, and showcase the richness of electronic music,” explained Tin Trucek.
The club’s capacity is set for around 300 guests, with an age limit of 23 for men and 21 for women. All tickets for the Levels residency program are available through the Core Event platform, and if any remain, they will also be sold at the club entrance. More information about the program can be found on social media (Lift Club Zagreb) or via email info@liftclub.hr.
