Coachella’s new lineup shows how much the festival has changed. For 2026, electronic music makes up almost half of the program, the highest share in the festival’s history. Just a few years ago, electronic acts were often seen as a side-story. Next spring, they will be at the center of the desert.
According to recent breakdowns, 45% booked artists for the next year fall under the broad category of electronic music – house, techno, bass, experimental, and everything in between. That’s up from 39% in 2025, marking a steady climb that shows a clear trend.

Headliners Sabrina Carpenter, Justin Bieber, and Karol G grab the mainstream spotlight, but the addition of Anyma listed among the headliners says a lot about where things are going. Electronic names fill the rest of the poster in big numbers: Disclosure, Rezz, Subtronics, Kaskade, Solomun, Adriatique, Duke Dumont, Major Lazer, and a rare Armin van Buuren b2b Adam Beyer set. Newer artists like Hamdi, Levity, and Max Styler are also performing, showing that the booking isn’t just about established names.
Coachella has been moving in this direction for years. The Do LaB stage, which celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2025, grew from a niche spot to one of the most recognizable parts of the festival. The newer Quasar stage has done the same, offering longer DJ sets and bigger production. These areas opened the door for electronic music to become more visible.

What’s different in 2026 is scale. Dance music is no longer something you catch on the side, it now defines a large part of the weekend.
Of course, Coachella hasn’t abandoned its eclectic identity. Rock, indie, pop, and hip-hop remain part of the mix, with names like The Strokes, the xx, Iggy Pop, FKA twigs, and Young Thug also in the lineup. But with almost half the lineup electronic, the rhythm of the festival is changing.
For a new generation, electronic music isn’t underground as it became a part of everyday culture. Streaming platforms, global tours, and constant collaborations between DJs and pop artists have only made it more noticeable. By putting electronic music at the heart of its 2026 lineup, Coachella is recognizing that shift.
