Croatia’s capital recently got a new artistic hub in Ilica, a street that connects the western part of the City with the main square, and it is famous for its allies and hidden gardens. Street number 73 has a new hub – a studio, an independent publishing house Smak Press, a gallery, and a coworking place called Klet, a yard that hosts numerous workshops, exhibitions, pop-up festivals, flea markets, and many other kinds of creative events.
Klet was a project that was developed for years by Andro Nogolica, Boris Bare, Rudolf Crnko (GlitchBoy2000), Vedran Å timac, Viktoria Knezić, Marin Remić, Juraj KoÅ¡pić, Matko Vodopija and many other artists. Formerly neglected garages in the yard of Ilica 73 became a DIY project of the mentioned artists, and today they are renovated spaces created ‘to promote and develop the alternative and urban cultural scene through a multidisciplinary creative exhibition-interactive practice with a special focus on providing young artists a space for the expression’.
Klet is divided into two sections, studios and gallery. The studio section meets all of the needs for audiovisual activities, promotions, fairs and flea markets, corporate workshops, and artists residencies. On the other hand, the gallery holds a year-round cycle of pop-up exhibitions, performances, shows, film screenings, and magazine promotions.
In their social media post, Klet’s founders expressed that they are open to all collaborations and pieces of advice, and whoever is interested can contact them via email javisekleti@gmail.com. This weekend they are hosting a flea market ‘Dronjak’, and all of their future activities are published on their Instagram profile @super.klet .
