The eighth edition of NESVRSTANI offers a carefully curated overview of contemporary art from the region through three days of exhibitions, music, and social programming. From June 27 to 29, Lauba – House for People and Art – will host 16 galleries and around 100 artists from Croatia and abroad, showcasing over 300 works – from established names to those increasingly making their way into serious collections.
NESVRSTANI is neither a conventional exhibition nor a typical art fair. It’s a format that gathers some of the most important contemporary works in one place, without preset themes or curatorial frameworks. The focus lies on what is being created and exhibited today – works that best reflect the current position of the local and regional scene.

Participating this year are now well-recognized galleries such as Trotoar, Apoteka Vodnjan, Galerija Poola, Galerija Flora, Galerija Kranjčar, and many more, while the fair’s international character is further emphasized by notable galleries from Slovenia and Serbia – such as Kibla, Y Gallery, and ŠumArt.
The program will also feature works by artists associated with the Gorgona Group, EXAT 51, New Tendencies, and New Image – movements that have marked the history of Croatian art and continue to hold significant places in collector circles.
In one space, historically significant works by Julije Knifer, Ivan Kožarić, Ivan Picelj, Đuro Seder, and Aleksandar Srnec will be presented alongside recent pieces by artists such as Mario Miličić, Gorana Težak, Ivan Buvinić, and Nikola Grabovac. This blend of generations and approaches offers a view into the continuity – and transformation – within contemporary artistic production.
Each gallery presents its own selection of works, covering a range of media and perspectives. While there is no central curator or unified storyline, the Lauba team has carefully selected participants to ensure a diverse and high-quality representation of current creative output.

Art as Investment
This year’s edition once again bridges artistic practice and the art market. With prices ranging from a few hundred euros to more significant investment works, NESVRSTANI supports direct acquisition – no intermediaries, no hidden agendas. Whether you’re buying your first piece or seeking to expand a collection, this fair offers an informed and transparent entry point.
According to the 2024 Art Basel & UBS Report, mid-tier works (under €20,000) represent the most stable growth segment in the market — especially those by artists with a defined and maturing practice. NESVRSTANI’s selection reflects this shift: smart collecting, grounded in long-term value.

Can an Algorithm Be an Artist?
In collaboration with CroAI, the fair opens space for a timely question: What role does artificial intelligence play in authorship today? The rise of AI-generated artworks on the international market – like Obvious Collective’s Portrait of Edmond de Belamy or Refik Anadol’s recent sales at Christie’s – has blurred the boundaries of human creativity.
The program invites audiences to explore where technology ends and authorship begins – not just as a theory, but as a practical concern for future curators, artists, and collectors.
Atmosphere Matters
Beyond the art on the walls, NESVRSTANI is known for its atmosphere – open, intelligent, and social. Mornings at Lauba start slowly, with music on the terrace and conversations over coffee. Evenings bring DJ sets, concerts, and nights filled with cocktails and wine. Friday opens with the popular Summer Cinema, Saturday features a live performance by One Cure, while Sunday is reserved for a more tranquil close and finalizing acquisitions. If you’ve ever considered buying a piece of art – this is the perfect place to start.
