Zadar, Croatia, is preparing for a distinctive New Year’s Eve celebration in 2025 that blends electronic music with broader city-wide festivities.
One of the centrepieces of the city’s official programme is the Zadar SLR Showcase, a large-scale open-air electronic music event taking place at the historic City Market beneath the old town walls on December 31.
The showcase, organised by the City of Zadar and the Zadar Tourist Board, brings together three prominent local collectives, Selected, Loveroom and Ritmika, to transform the market space into a vibrant dancefloor. With lasers, stage lighting and electronic beats, the event marks the first time a fully-fledged electronic music programme is featured in the city centre as part of the official New Year’s celebrations. The programme begins at 9 p.m. and is expected to continue into the early hours of the new year.
Each collective contributes its own musical style. Selected focuses on immersive late-night dance experiences, Ritmika, recognised for bridging diverse electronic genres, will perform in an official city countdown for the first time, and Loveroom represents a newer generation of house music enthusiasts. According to local organisers, the event reflects growing demand among residents and visitors for large-scale electronic music experiences within Zadar itself, rather than traveling to other destinations.
The City Market event is part of a broader New Year’s Eve programme that includes other celebrations across Zadar. At Petar Zoranić Square, for example, audiences can enjoy daytime performances such as an Italian Art Pop tribute followed by a Rockstar Show featuring homage performances to iconic 1980s and 1990s rock and pop acts. Together, these varied offerings aim to create a multi-generational celebration in the heart of the city.
Overall, Zadar’s New Year’s festivities in 2025 are set to combine historic urban settings with contemporary cultural experiences, drawing both locals and visitors to celebrate the arrival of the new year.
