During the Zagreb Design Week one of the interesting spots to check out is Holographik Space with its new program called Open Works. For the next week, 15th – 21st September, their doors will be open from morning until late, with a mix of talks, reviews, screenings, music, and everyday activity filling the rooms.
What makes Open Works different is that it isn’t built around one big event. It’s more like an ongoing flow. You can walk in during the day to catch a design talk, sit through a documentary, book a free session in their photo studio, or simply use the co-working area if you’re working remotely. Some activities have limited capacity, so registration is recommended if you want to be sure of a spot.

The lineup of speakers brings together some of the most active local studios and collectives, from product and visual design to architecture and new media. For students and young creatives, the first day’s portfolio review is a good chance to get real feedback from the Holographik team. And if you’re more in the mood to browse, there’s also a pop-up shop with carefully picked design books, magazines, and limited pieces.
Every afternoon (except Friday), the program also includes documentary screenings focused on design – from how it shapes the way we live in cities, to how it influences what we see, want, and consume. The films are shown in English and are a good way to take a short break while still staying connected to the theme of the week.

Evenings at Open Works are designed as a time to slow down, connect, and let music carry the atmosphere. After the talks wrap up, the lights dim and DJs step in, turning the space into a more informal gathering spot. You’ll hear sets from names like Ingrid, Hrwoe, Flaneur, Oberan, Solfeggio, and Andrea Ljekaj. It’s less about a “club night” and more about ending the day together.
At the heart of it all is a simple idea: creating a space for the city. Holographik’s team says this is their way of giving back to the community that shaped them, and of keeping Zagreb’s design scene open, accessible, and alive.
