From next Friday, April 17th, Trešnjevački plac (Trešnjevka market) will no longer be just a morning stop for grocery shopping. Every Friday, it will be transformed into Špica Plac, a new afterwork concept that brings a combination of street food, DJ programs and evening socializing to the west of the city, from 6 pm to midnight.
In the southern part of the market, an area with lounge areas, ambient lighting and a central cocktail bar and Beer Garden will be set up, and the focus will be on gastronomic offer and relaxed socializing.
Over 15 well-known Zagreb caterers are participating in the project, who will come out of their restaurants and bars on Fridays and bring a few clearly defined dishes, without overlapping their offerings. This means that in one place you will be able to try everything at the same time; from steaks in the street food version, sushi and pasta with cheese rings, through Asian and Mexican dishes, to vegan options and desserts. The beverage offering includes craft beers (Mlinarica, Varionica, Zmajsko, Medvedgrad…), wines and cocktails through the central bar.
Part of the menu is developed directly from what is available on the square that day, so the concept maintains a connection with the market and local OPGs “from field to table”, but in a format that is adapted to an evening out; fast, street food and sharing friendly.
The music program is based on DJ sets and an informal, afterwork atmosphere, with an emphasis on jazz, funk, house and related genres, to maintain the continuity of socializing throughout the evening.

Although concepts that combine markets and evening content already exist in Zagreb and other cities, Špica Plac focuses on the neighborhood context of Trešnjevka and a regular weekly rhythm, with the aim of creating a stable gathering place that does not depend on one-off events.
The project is held in two cycles: from April to the end of July and again from September to autumn, with a model in which some of the caterers rotate every Friday, which maintains the dynamics and constant change of content.
Špica Plac is being implemented in collaboration with the Zagreb City Markets and the City of Zagreb, and is being developed by Svibanj Projekt, a team known for Advent on the European Square and the program that set the standard for daily DJ and concert content in Zagreb during the Advent period.
