Spotify is no longer running recruitment ads for US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on its platform, the campaign ended in December, the company says.
A Spotify spokesperson confirmed to Variety that “there are currently no ICE ads running on Spotify,” and framed the spots as part of a broader US government recruitment drive that ran across major media outlets and platforms.
The adverts, which aired last year, were widely criticised for their alarmist language. Media coverage highlighted copy urging listeners to prioritise protecting their communities from what the ads described as dangerous undocumented people, wording many saw as divisive and inflammatory.
Public scrutiny intensified after an ICE agent fatally shot 37‑year‑old Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis on 7 January. Critics have argued the recruitment push was especially controversial given longstanding allegations of human‑rights abuses by the agency.
The hiring campaign formed part of the Trump administration’s effort to expand immigration enforcement, with a stated goal of recruiting roughly 10,000 deportation officers. Spotify’s statement makes clear the company has removed the ads from its service, while noting the campaign ran across multiple platforms.
