While most kids in the early ‘80s were busy playing with G.I. Joe action figures, Marcellus “Malik” Pittman had his radio turned up loud, soaking in every sound and influence Detroit had to offer. No one could have predicted that he would become one of the creators behind the Detroit sound. This Friday, March 14, he’s bringing that energy to Peti Kupe as part of ongoing collaboration with Zurich’s Kasheme (a club known for its deep love of audiophile culture).
Marcellus Pittman started out DJing at college parties, weddings, and private events before releasing his first works in 1993 with the local hip-hop collective Home Grown. Fast forward to today, and he’s one of Detroit’s most respected selectors. As the founder of the Unirhythm label and a member of the legendary 3 Chairs collective (alongside Theo Parrish, Moodymann, and Rick Wilhite), his ability to connect the dots between house, funk, techno, and beyond makes him a true master of the craft.
Also joining the night from Zurich is one of the city’s most original scene shapers – Kalabrese. A DJ, producer, bandleader, and co-owner of the legendary Zukunft club, Kalabrese is a bold musical force, an artist who sets standards, with a reputation for pushing dance music into unexpected places. His style is loose, organic, and full of groove, blending everything from indie dance, disco, house, and blues into a hypnotic set that always feels raw and alive.

Hosting the night will be two familiar faces – Ilija Rudman & Antonio Zuza – two experienced DJs who will kick off the night with a b2b set, warming up the atmosphere in a club that, just like the previous edition, will transform to reflect the friendly and intimate vibe of Kasheme.
Tickets for this night are available on this link.
