This summer, the world’s best club, according to DJ Mag, Hï Ibiza, has transformed its already iconic club into a gallery that challenges conventions. The Hï Ibiza gallery, conceived in collaboration with London’s W1 Curates, stakes its claim as the world’s first permanent in-club art space. It opened this past August, presenting a daring fusion of nightlife, digital art, and interactive technology.
Upon entry, clubgoers are greeted by a striking mural from street artist Mr Cenz. More than a static welcome, this mural activates through the W1 Curates app, revealing hidden layers via augmented reality and setting a tone of digital alchemy. Beyond the doorway, physical sculpture plays a starring role: KidEight contributes angular, graffiti-fused works—a nod to hip-hop visual culture—while WhIsBe’s towering neon-green gummy bear in the Tipi Garden delivers a playful and photogenic contrast to the club’s throbbing energy.
The crown jewel, however, lies upstairs. Hï’s rooftop Dom Pérignon bar has been reimagined into a shimmering digital gallery space. Custom-engineered LED displays render strikingly accurate visuals, mirrored ceilings amplify the effect, and the ambient glow bathes visitors in an otherworldly atmosphere. The lineup of featured artists reads like a who’s-who of digital art: Beeple’s record-shattering NFT visuals, the cyber-saturated scenes of Mad Dog Jones, the dystopian architectural visions of Annibale Siconolfi, the cinematic flair of Ash Thorp, the dreamlike environments of Six N. Five, and Shiro Fujioka’s emotive audio-visual blends.
However, the gallery is not static. Artworks rotate every fortnight, offering fresh visual narratives for returning visitors. For those chasing the art beyond the moment, there’s an opportunity to buy. Limited edition prints, original canvases, and select sculptures—from Mr Cenz and KidEight to WhIsBe’s gummy bear in various sizes—are available for purchase, turning mega-club memories into collectible art.
This collaboration is a clear sign of how creative industries should work together and present the current times in the best way – modern art via static and digital forms and electronic music – the variety of its genres and sound possibilities.
