The autumn exhibition season in Split opens with a project that brings together art, science, and sound. On Thursday, September 4th, Croatian artist Martina Moon Zelenika is presenting her solo exhibition “Melody of the Invisible: The Sound of the Earth” at the MKC Gallery in the Youth Center (Ulica slobode 28). The exhibition remains open until September 2nd.
At the center of the show is ChORUS2, Zelenika’s latest new media work. The piece takes real-time signals from the Earth’s magnetosphere (usually hidden from human perception) and converts them into sound, accompanied by generative digital animation. In the gallery space, these elements combine into an environment where visitors can listen to and watch the activity of the planet’s magnetic field as it unfolds.

The exhibition also includes drawings from the series “Solar Corona”, made in 2020 while the artist was living in Berlin. Created during the early months of the pandemic, these works reflect her interest in the relationship between solar activity and the Earth’s protective magnetic shield.

About The Artists
MOON – Martina Zelenika (1978) is known for working across media: from traditional drawing to augmented reality, audiovisual installations, and sensor-based performance. Her practice often involves translating scientific data into sound and image (a method known as sonification) as a way to explore invisible processes that shape human life. Over the past two decades, she has exhibited in Croatia and abroad, and her projects have been presented at conferences and festivals such as RE:SOUND in Denmark and POSTSENSORIUM in Latvia.
Today, Zelenika lives in Zagreb, where she teaches at the Department of Digital Arts at Algebra Bernays University. In her work, she continues to explore themes of existence, freedom, and the connection between human experience and the larger forces of nature.
“Melody of the Invisible: The Sound of the Earth” gives the audience a chance to experience these ideas in practice, through a mix of visual art, technology, and sound that asks what it means to listen to the planet itself.
