The sixth edition of the Sea Star Festival transformed Stella Maris Resort in Umag, Croatia, into an electrifying epicenter of electronic music. The festival’s vibrant atmosphere and stunning beachfront setting drew a diverse crowd of electronic music enthusiasts, eager to dive into the summer season. Walking through the festival grounds, we heard many languages, a testament to the many tourists who had traveled from far away to experience this musical spectacle.
We attended the first day, and this is what unfolded during the festival’s spectacular kickoff.
UNFORGETTABLE MOMENTS ON THE TESLA MAIN STAGE
Three stages buzzed with energy, but the Tesla Main Stage stole the show.
Hot Since 82 brought his signature groovy house tracks to the main stage, delivering a set that was both infectious and deeply engaging. His ability to blend deep house rhythms with tech-house elements created a unique soundscape that had the crowd moving to every beat. His set was proof of his versatility and skill in creating an atmosphere that is both relaxed and exhilarating.
Following Hot Since 82, the Ukrainian tech-house duo ARTBAT delivered a set full of deep, pulsating beats that resonated through the crowd. Their seamless blend of melodic techno and driving basslines created an immersive experience that had festival-goers engaged from start to finish. As their set continued, a gentle rain began to fall. Instead of lowering spirits and dancers going home, the rain added a magical touch to the night, making the set feel even more unforgettable to us.
The night continued with the techno queen Deborah de Luca, who kept the night going with her high-octane set. Known for her powerful and rhythmic techno beats, she effortlessly wove together dark, driving tracks with melodic interludes, captivating the audience well into the morning hours. A standout moment for us was when she dropped her remix of “Gangsta’s Paradise,” infusing it with her unique tone. The crowd was visibly surprised and responded with heightened energy, showing their appreciation for the unexpected twist.
ELECTRIC WAVES STAGE: A SPOTLIGHT ON LOCAL TALENT
Another highlight was the Electric Waves Stage, spotlighting regional talent. Pablo Panda’s set was a vibrant mix of electronic sounds that showcased his ability to engage the crowd with rhythmic beats and catchy melodies. Kali’s performance brought a deeper, more experimental edge to the stage, with a set that explored various subgenres of electronic music. The crowd enjoyed Kali’s set, as the stage was packed with dancers. The b2b session from Samo Tako and Korak was a thrilling performance that demonstrated their energy and skill.
