Last Saturday, October 12, Peti Kupe showcased another lineup of highly skillful artists, proving that their residential program SEQUENCES continues to grow its audience. The Hacker, Paty Vapor, Fabrizio Mammarella and the host, Antonio Zuza, delivered a night full of various sounds and genres, adapting the BPMs as the night progressed. The club was also visually enriched, as they recently installed new light system that stands out and creates a completely new atmosphere.
Mammarella, Italian selector, producer, label owner, and a frequent guest at Peti Kupe joined forces with Zuza and the duo has set a perfect base for the headliner of the night – The Hacker. The French electroclash and techno producer who has worked with Miss Kittin, delivered an impeccable set, mixing, house, techno, pop, electro, and familiar sounds from the 1990s, showing his impact and work with artists like Kraftwerk, new wave artists such as the Cure and Depeche Mode, and the last century’s French rave scene. Mixing those genres proved his big knowledge about sound in general, showcasing a skill that can not be seen often at parties. After him, Paty Vapor, a Brazilian-born, Berlin-based DJ took over the booth and immediately raised the BPMs announcing the transition, and delivered an electro/techno set with powerful kicks and bold basslines.
“This time, the lineup was created in collaboration with Fabrizio Mammarella. This was his 4th time at Peti Kupe and he became like a resident, so you can definitely expect to see him again in the following events”, said Antonio Zuza, co-owner and resident of Peti Kupe.
This event was a part of Kupe’s SEQUENCES resident program, bringing renowned producers representing the underground scene, who are often residents of Berghain and other internationally renowned clubs. Last year Peti Kupe hosted various great artists such as DVS1, Vladimir Ivković, Rodhad, Aurora Halal, Guy J, Alexander Robotnick, and others, while this season, they hosted producers such as Massimiliano Pagliara and DJ Nobu.
“SEQUENCES is recognized as a program that offers a slightly ‘darker’ sound, similar to what Berghain has so the majority of our guests are also its residents. This is a novelty we wanted to offer Zagreb’s audience so they don’t always have to go abroad to listen to these kinds of artists. Now the audience can listen to them at our venue in central Zagreb almost once a month“, Zuza explained.
Next SEQUENCES is set for 10 days, October 25, with a strong female lineup of Gabrielle Kwarteng, Ogazon and Lola Haro. These artists are also representing Berlin’s scene and their musical influence is again characterized by a variety of genres. The final edition of SEQUENCES is reserved for November 2 with Jennifer Cardini, Budino, and the local support, DJ Doxia.
“We have confirmed a rich lineup for the next year. After the upcoming edition, we will have a little break until the beginning of February when we will kick off 2025 with a strong headliner. We will have to wait for the official headliner announcements but I can tell that some of the previous guests will come again, along with a renowned Croatian artist with a foreign address who promotes a similar sound as The Hacker. Get ready for an exciting 2025”, Zuza said.
