“A fusion between atmosphere and architecture.”
For two decades Tomorrowland has created a world of its own, where stage designs feel like something out of a storybook, and the atmosphere takes people into another reality. Unlike most festivals that lean on screens and lights, Tomorrowland focuses on storytelling, using grand structures and artistic details to create something special.
Tomorrowland has made its reputation in exploring different options and crossing the boundaries of what is already expected. And now, taking their vision a step further – they teamed up with Dieter Vander Velpen, a well-known architect who loves blending nature with design. Coming from this collaboration is a launch of Great Library Design Studio.
With the newly founded design studio, their approach is moving into real world spaces. The project is led by well-known Belgian architect Dieter Vander Velpen, known for mixing nature with design – his work is also described as a “couture architecture”. The goal of this collaboration is to take the festival’s feel and bring it into tangible products and places people visit year around.
The clear statement of the idea and its future came directly from the lead architect in a video posted on the Studio’s official Instagram page:
One of the first projects coming from this collaboration is Morpho, a nature-inspired collection of furniture, lighting, and decor that follows the studio’s bespoke design philosophy. Morpho is planned to launch in April 2025, being a significant step for Tomorrowland, and as aresult reinforcing its influence.
Beyond furniture, the design studio is also looking at larger spaces. Luxury hotels are a natural fit – imagine walking into a space that instantly feels dreamy, filled with details that spark curiosity. But there’s also potential in nightclubs and entertainment venues. Many clubs today have an industrial look, but Tomorrowland’s approach could bring something fresh – spaces designed to feel like experiences, not just locations.
