Despite growing calls for inclusion, line-ups remain overwhelmingly male.
A new study by Clubbing TV, led by journalist Laureline Teste, reveals that just 22% of DJs booked to perform in Ibiza during the 2025 season are women or non‑binary. The analysis looked at 980 unique bookings, excluding repeat appearances to better reflect the actual diversity of individual artists across the island’s leading clubs.
Of those bookings, 214 were women or non‑binary, while 766 were male – showing a persistent gender imbalance in one of electronic music’s most influential global hubs.
Across the 28 party series analyzed, a few events stood out for booking a more balanced line-up. Defected at Pacha and Francis Mercier’s Solèy at Club Chinois each reached around 28% representation, while Pyramid at Amnesia also booked a broader mix of talent compared to many other residencies.

Still, the overall picture shows little progress. The 22% share represents only a marginal rise from 21% in 2023, pointing to a broader stagnation. While conversations around inclusivity in dance music have become more prominent, the pace of actual change remains slow. Ibiza continues to position itself as a forward-thinking cultural hotspot, yet its programming reflects a scene still dominated by male artists – even as the international talent pool becomes increasingly diverse.
Laureline Teste described the island’s scene as an “exclusive boys’ club,” shaped by entrenched networks that routinely sideline underrepresented talent. In response, Pacha stated its bookings are made without regard to gender, based solely on artistic merit. Meanwhile, Defected’s Steven Braines pointed to the commercial and cultural value of inclusive programming, highlighting events like HE.SHE.THEY, which frequently achieve near gender parity, supported by initiatives like Elevate, designed to develop and promote marginalized artists within the industry.
