As part of our 365 Days of INSITE celebration at the Garden Taproom, we’re showcasing a selection of bold, process-driven works by emerging Croatian artists in a special cash & carry exhibition format.
Each of these artists – Jupiterska, Mat (Matea Janković), Borna Ivanuša, and Monika Milas – brings a distinct voice, medium, and sensibility to the table, yet they’re united by a shared commitment to experimentation, materiality, and emotional depth. The works on view reflect their ongoing dialogue with materials, environments, and scenes they’re part of – whether it’s the gallery, the club, or somewhere in between. Here’s a closer look at each of them:
Jupiterska
Jupiterska is a multidisciplinary artist best known for crafting rugs and tapestries by hand, using 100% New Zealand wool – a premium, hypoallergenic, moth-resistant material that insulates both sound and heat while staying kind to the planet. This particular wool is regarded as the finest available for rug-making. What sets her apart is not just the quality of the wool, but her deeply personal approach to design. Alongside her signature rugs, she also creates complementary pieces such as unique clothing items and prints of her original illustrations.

MAT
Overthinking, over-feeling, and over-dreaming – that’s where Mat (Matea Janković) begins. A multidisciplinary artist based in Pula, she works across graphic design, illustration, and 2D animation, while also experimenting with anything that feels even remotely useful in uncovering a project’s true identity. She says her biggest achievement is being able to live off of her creations.

Monika Milas
Monika Milas is a Zagreb-based visual and audiovisual artist working across installation, drawing, video, and VJing. Her practice centers on immersive, often charred sculptural forms – blackened masses that evoke decay, transformation, and the cyclical nature of life.
Active since 2019, she has exhibited in galleries and public spaces, while also shaping scenography and visuals for Croatia’s electronic and club scenes. Her installations move, breathe, and demand presence, pulling the viewer into dark, meditative environments where destruction becomes a form of creation.

Borna Ivanuša
Borna Ivanuša moves between graphics, scenography, and installation with an instinct for layering emotion, symbolism, and space. Educated in set design and fine arts in Zagreb and Rijeka, he completed his degree in Graphic Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb in 2023.
Known for his solo exhibitions like FLOWERBOY (2024–2025) and I DIDN’T KNOW HOW TO NAME THIS (2022), his work often unravels memory, vulnerability, and quiet tension. He’s also active in collaborative and interdisciplinary settings – designing sets for theatre, building visual worlds for performances, and contributing to group shows like Salon mladih: Paraziti. For Borna, art is not a fixed object, but a stage – open to transformation, dialogue, and play.

Swing by from 6 PM, check out the art, catch a drink, and stay for the music: we’re running open decks throughout the evening, leading into DJ sets from some of our favorite local headliners – Kali and Madezh.
