The young and talented music producer Lovro Baletić has released his debut single titled “Ne sjećam se” (“I Don’t Remember”) this week. The track, with a retro sound, also serves as a preview of his upcoming EP, Sve odjednom (All at Once), for which he’s preparing a DJ remix for each single.
Lovro collaborated with singer Lara Javor, known by her stage name Boisette, on the single “Ne sjećam se,” a project he began back in 2021. “I started working on the song in 2021 and finished it at the end of 2023. I changed the arrangement and instrumental parts multiple times,” he explained.
The EP Sve odjednom focuses on synth-pop and retro-futuristic genres. For each of the three songs on the project, Lovro has collaborated with a different vocalist, creating a unique blend of sounds reminiscent of the band Nipplepeople but with a modern twist. “My goal is to evoke emotions in listeners, not necessarily to send a message but to create an experience,” he says.
Lovro’s journey in music began in childhood when he started experimenting with sounds around him. Coming from a family of architects, he quickly realized he was the “black sheep” because he was interested only in music. “They saw right away that there wasn’t an architect in me, so they supported me. They’ve always stood by me, and I’m endlessly grateful,” Lovro says.
During his music production studies in Amsterdam, Lovro became immersed in digital production and sampling, developing his distinctive sound, which combines retro elements with a modern approach. His inspirations include artists like The Weeknd and Nipplepeople, who also merge retro vibes with contemporary sound. Lovro is also fascinated by pioneers like Depeche Mode, David Bowie, and Kraftwerk. This unique blend of influences is evident in his work, with synth-driven rhythms and nostalgic tones delivering fresh yet familiar soundscapes.
As he reflects on his journey so far, Lovro has a simple yet powerful piece of advice for aspiring producers: “Finish your songs before starting new projects, that’s the key to growth,” he advises.
