Jägermeister’s mission is to “create the best nights, today and tomorrow. The best nights are safe, inclusive, and sustainable and with SAVE THE NIGHT the brand tries to preserve the best nights for its consumers and Meisters.” With this vision, Jägermeister’s Save The Night Fund 2024 is now open for applications.
What is the Save The Night Fund?
The Save The Night Fund is a global open call created to support innovative ideas that address issues in nightlife, including safety, sustainability, and inclusion. Jägermeister has allocated €100,000 to be distributed across multiple projects. This funding allows both small-scale and large-scale projects to apply, empowering creators, club owners, artists, and activists to develop initiatives that can reshape the future of nightlife.
Current State of the Nightlife – Nightlife has been under threat for years due to issues like rising costs, gentrification, and inequality. Research shows that countries like the UK and Italy have lost a significant amount of their nightclubs over the last decade, with Italy having a 52% decline since the 1990s. On top of this, safety remains a critical concern – 90% of women in global cities report feeling unsafe in public spaces at night. Moreover, the environmental footprint of nightlife is big, with clubs consuming large amounts of energy and creating significant waste, such as plastic waste from bottles on islands like Ibiza.
Since its start, the Save The Night initiative has supported over 1,650 Meisters and 1,225 projects worldwide. Past winners have introduced important projects, from creating inclusive event spaces to launching studies on the cultural value of nightclubs. In 2023, notable winners included Jesse Mwenda Mugambi from Nairobi, who founded Studio Can-V, and the non-profit organization Free The Night by Holly Lester and Boyd Sleator from Northern Ireland.
Applications for the 2024 Save The Night Fund are open until November 4th. For those who have a creative idea that addresses any of the key areas (safety, inclusion, or sustainability), this fund could provide the needed support to bring the vision to life.
