Zagreb’s Scena Ribnjak will host SIGNAL.NOISE.GLITCH.RITUAL this Thursday, May 29th – a one-night event bringing together three international ensembles active in contemporary electroacoustic and multimedia performance. Organized by NAE Collective, the program brings together artists from Singapore, France, and Croatia in a rare intersection of experimental sound, performance, and audiovisual exploration.
The evening will feature performances by B-L Duo (Singapore), F.l.o.c.k.-L.a.b (France), and the host ensemble NAE Collective (Croatia). While each group brings its own approach, all share an interest in experimental sound and multimedia performance.
B-L Duo (Singapore), consisting of Bertram Wee and Lynette Yeo, will present a program built around bold contrasts – melding MIDI keyboards, video, and virtuosic composition. Their set includes original and adapted works that question formality and tradition through contemporary performance practices.
Founded in 2022 in Zagreb, NAE Collective is an ensemble of composers, instrumentalists, and new media artists working at the intersection of experimental music, sound art, and multimedia performance. Members include Tomislav Oliver, Vid Veljak, Filip Merčep, Branimir Norac, Goran Nježić, and Boy van Ooijen. Their work combines live electronics, video, light design, and improvisation, creating dynamic and interdisciplinary performances. Recent projects include Nature Amplified, inspired by ecology and the sonification of biological data, and Impossible Spaces: Memories of Kowloon, which explores urban heterotopias.
F.l.o.c.k.-L.a.b (Paris) brings a glitch-driven aesthetic and collective improvisational approach. Their performance focuses on real-time collaboration, embracing distortion, fragmentation, and system error as core expressive tools.
The evening is curated to function as a space for sonic and visual disruption – challenging listeners to reconsider how art, sound, and environment intersect.
For Zagreb’s scene, events like SIGNAL.NOISE.GLITCH.RITUAL show a growing openness to interdisciplinary collaboration and international exchange – offering students, professionals, and curious audiences a front-row seat to the evolving language of experimental performance.
