The well-known DJ from Colombia, Funk Tribu, shared an important message with his fans yesterday, explaining why he will appear on fewer lineups this year.
Funk Tribu is a Colombian artist currently based in Berlin who has been gaining increasing popularity over the past few years. Yesterday, he shared on his Instagram profile that in the coming year he plans to reduce the number of his shows from nearly 100 to around 60 so he could give himself more space for rest and focus on work in the studio.
„Over three years ago I moved from Colombia to Berlin and started my journey as a producer and touring DJ. These years have been life-changing, intense, and the most meaningful of my life so far. Thank you for being part of it and for making all of this possible. I would not change this for anything. At the same time, touring almost every weekend for years has been a lot. I never really settled into my new life in Berlin, and everything moved so fast that I barely had time to process what was happening. It was beautiful but also overwhelming. …. Atter many talks with my team, we decided to slow things down. In 2026, l’ll be reducing my shows from nearly 100 a year to a maximum of around 60 to give myself more space to breathe, to rest, and to focus on being in the studio.“
Funk Tribu shared this with his followers and emphasized the pressure that the industry itself puts on performers, as well as how turning down gigs can be misunderstood: „In this industry there are many expectations, and sometimes saying “no” is simply misunderstood. A declined booking or collaboration can look personal from the outside, but it truly never is. It’s about taking care of my well-being and making sustainable decisions.“
He also said that he is not the only one who feels this way, but that many of his colleagues are struggling with the same issue and find it difficult to open up and talk about it: „Not only l, but many of my friends and colleagues in this industry are struggling with similar challenges. As much as we love what we do and are thankful for everything, this industry can be demanding and not always easy to navigate.“
Funk Tribu, whose real name is Eduardo, received support from fellow artists in the comments, including the duo 999999999, close collaborator Bad Boombox, Indira Paganotto, DJ Juliet Fox, Nico Moreno, Reinier Zonneveld, and many others.
