The members of the student drag collective House of Ambicía have announced two dates for their new performance, Kič, Klanje, Radovanje [eng. Kitsch, Slaughter, Rejoicing], in which they continue to address contemporary political issues. The performances will take place in Zagreb on March 14 at Boogaloo Club and March 21 at Močvara Club, followed by organized afterparties.

“Reflecting on the current geopolitical situation, where democratic processes, human rights, and issues of independence and freedom are being questioned, we have realized that the ambitions of the powerful are increasingly enforcing systemic repression on society as a whole. Authoritarianism, it seems, is creeping back in, although disguised in neoliberal slogans.
Therefore, we have set Kitsch, Slaughter, Rejoicing within the framework of an authoritarian regime known as the Unified Authoritarian Democratic Union (JADU). Here, Sofia Ambicía and Potpuna Prisutnost, as leaders of the resistance, face Neven Never, the Union’s judicial system, and mysterious muses. How does the cruelty of the regime manifest? How does it mercilessly silence dissenting voices? What will be the outcome of their struggle for justice? Who adorns themselves, who slaughters, and who rejoices? Ultimately, how different is this fictional authoritarian regime from the supposedly democratic system we live in today? Find out in the second performance of House of Ambicía,” the collective stated.
The performance is directed by Mateo Babić and Lucija Brkić, with production by Jurica Nikolić. The dramaturgy is crafted by Jan Samek, while choreography is led by Mateo Babić and Gabrijela Kambić Kovačić, with Lea Brcko as the assistant choreographer. The cast includes Lea Brcko, Jana Božić, Nina Jugo, Lea Filipčić, Gabrijela Kambić Kovačić, Iman Kapetanović, Tatjana Bogomolec, Marija Pehar, Antun Antolović, Lucija Brkić, Mateo Babić, Jurica Nikolić, and Lucija Marčec. Karla Kuljiš is responsible for costume and set design, while Karla Sadan handles photography. The poster design is created by Marko Plejić, and lighting design is managed by Igor Markić-Nikolac. Sound engineering is done by Jan Samek and Josip Skledar.
Both performances will begin at 9 PM. The Boogaloo afterparty will be organized by Swashtara, featuring DJs Kikib and Scope, while in Močvara, DJ Nomadia will be in charge of the musical repertoire.
Tickets for the Boogaloo event can be purchased at the club’s bar on weekdays or at the entrance on the day of the event. Tickets for Močvara are available here.
