This Sunday, May 18th, on the terrace of the well-known Zagreb club Peti Kupe, a new event concept kicks off—Senses—a fusion of all the senses. The series of events is the brainchild of chef Boris Seili and mixologist Jan Martinović aka Jan Martiny, aiming to blend gastronomy, mixology, and soulful house music, which this week will be served up by the popular local duo Egzotika DJs. Every Sunday, different professionals from the hospitality world will be featured, preparing new soul food dishes and signature cocktails at promotional prices, while DJs from all over Croatia will entertain guests with a selection of soulful house music. The event starts at 5:00 PM, and entry is free.

“After 15 years in a chef’s career, a love for house music, travel, and living in various parts of the world, I’m pouring all my energy and passion for my two greatest life loves—house music and gastronomy—into the Senses project, together with my colleague and friend Jan Martinović. The goal is to preserve the roots and legacy of house music through events inspired by Chosen Few DJs and NYC house block party movements,” says co-founder Boris Seili, who this Sunday will be presenting some of his dishes in a street food format.

Boris has built his career in a number of renowned restaurants such as Dežman, French Bistro Alegrija, Tori, Izakaya, Lauba, and has also worked as a chef on yachts and cruise ships. After more than a decade of working in kitchens across various continents, he describes his style as a fusion of Mediterranean and Pan-Asian cuisine.
Though most often seen at Peti Kupe as the club’s manager, Jan Martinović has been in hospitality for over twenty years. He built his career as a mixologist and head bartender in respected bars and hotels across Europe. Known in the cocktail world under the pseudonym Jan Martiny, his signature menus and cocktail lists can be found in well-known coastal venues including Noor Bar Split, Carpe Diem, Kalavanda Music Bar, Spirito Summer Place, El Toro, and Bistro Revelin. He’s also managed hotel bars in five-star resorts across Austrian ski destinations and Mallorca. Guided by the principle of creating umami flavors, Jan will prepare three signature cocktails exclusively for Senses, available only this Sunday.

This week’s fusion of street food specialties and top-tier cocktails will be rounded out by Zagreb’s “Exotic” duo Denis Štefanić and Marko Kalauz. Over the past ten years of playing together, they’ve performed at various daytime, club, and festival events. Their style is marked by disco, funk, and jazz derivatives from around the world, along with a classic house sound regularly spiced up with deep and raw rhythms.

The terrace of Peti Kupe is the perfect destination this Sunday after fulfilling your civic duty. More information about upcoming weekend events can be found on the Senses Croatia Instagram and Facebook profiles.
